Dear Friends on the Journey,
I do not know where to begin. Your generosity and faithfulness in prayer for Ride for the Refugee just blew us away. We, all of us who made the actual ride to Los Fresnos, want to thank you from the depths of our hearts. Without your generous giving and prayer for the journey, it would not have been near the success that it was. Let me share with you how your donations and prayer helped to change lives.
We began our journey in Liberal, Ks with a welcome meal and a stage loaded with supplies. FCC from Hooker, Ok had also brought their supplies to Liberal for us to pick up. After a wonderful time of fellowship, the four bikes and the semi truck headed back to Pampa. On Saturday morning, two motorcycles, the semi truck and trailer, and a support vehicle pulled away from FCC Pampa after having breakfast with the Biscuit ministry. The trailer was loaded with supplies from Pampa, FCC Amarillo, Junior Camp, FCC Brownfield, FCC Borger, and FCC Canyon. The trailer was about 1/3 full when it left that morning.
Along the journey, we picked up three more riders from Amarillo and one more from Longview, Tx.. We loaded supplies at Wylie Christian Church in Abilene, and then rested for the night in Brownwood, Tx at Lake Brownwood Christian Retreat Center. It was a night of fun, fellowship, and much needed rest. Sunday morning we headed for Kerrville, Tx where we loaded a tremendous amount of supplies. Then it was on to First Christian Church in Kingsville, Tx to load supplies and spend another night in the south Texas heat! Our trailer was full when we arrived in Kingsville so we loaded the supplies they had gathered and the ones from FCC in Alice, Tx in the enclosed motorcycle trailer that was hooked to the support vehicle.
Early in morning, with an unforgettable sunrise, we left Kingsville and rode to Los Fresnos, Tx and found the open arms of Feliberto Pereira waiting for us at Southwest Good Samaritan Center. What a joy it was to complete this journey. There was not a dry eye in the house! Five motorcycles, the semi truck and a very full trailer, the church van, and the support vehicle with its trailer, eleven of us in all, were overwhelmed by the gracious reception and the presence of God in this place. We left as changed individuals having seen the neediest of the needy and having been able to help in some way. Not only did we deliver the trailer load of supplies but we also left a donation of over $5000 for this ministry. God is so good!!
We can not express how much we appreciate what everyone has done to make the Ride for the Refugee a success! The only thing we can say is “Thank You and start getting ready for next year!” The Ride for the Refugee is tentatively slated for October 4th- 7th, 2007. We ask for your prayers and for your continued support in what is now an annual mission for Southwest Good Samaritan Center.
Dedicated to you as partners in Christ,
Barry Loving
