 Purpose: The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of the needs and the ministry of Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries. We intend to raise supplies for this ministry and to bring awareness to the ministries that are alive and well through SGSM.
Dates: October 4th - 7th, 2007
Definition Of A Refugee: “Refugees are persons who, "owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion," have fled their home country and are unable or, "owing to such fear," unwilling to avail themselves of that country's protection.”
Intent: Our intent is to ride motorcycles from Liberal, Ks to Los Fresnos, Tx in four or five days. We intend to have four stops in which we will pick up supplies donated from area churches for SGSM. We will have a semi truck and trailer traveling with us to put the supplies in. Our goal is to fill this trailer completely full with supplies from SGSM. We have a list from SGSM from which we will work. We intend to break the list down according to areas so that we can accomplish this.
The Plan: We will arrive in Liberal, Ks around suppertime on Wednesday and then gather the supplies, eat supper, and travel to Pampa for the night. Thursday morning we will all meet at FCC Pampa for the official kickoff. We will then pull out and head for Brownwood, Texas. We will have stops in Childress, Paducah, Abilene, and Brownwood. The plan is to spend the night at Lake Brownwood Christian Retreat Center Thursday night and then head for Kingsville. We will have stops in Kerrville and San Antonio for supply pick up and fuel. We will spend the night in Kingsville. Then it will be the DAY of DELIVERY. Saturday morrning we will get up and ride to Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries in Los Fresnos and deliver, hopefully, a complete 48’ semi trailer load of supplies. We shall then depart and go back to Kingsville to spend the night and begin the journey home.
General Information: We are inviting people who love to ride motorcycles to come and ride any or all of this ride with us. We would love to roll into Los Fresnos with over a hundred riders. We are asking all churches of the region to begin praying for this event and to begin raising supplies for this event. We will pick up the supplies at the previously mentioned destinations. It will be up the individual churches to get their supplies to those points. All churches in the region will be receiving a letter and registration forms for this event. We would humbly seek the support of all the region staff in prayer and in participation for this event.

“Motorcycle clubs, ride groups, or anyone who wants to ride with us, do not need to raise the supplies! Your main role in this project is to ride with us to help bring awareness to this ministry. We are challenging the churches of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the Southwest Region to raise the supplies and have them at the pick up points. You may raise supplies if you like, but it is not what we are asking from you!”
